(long part coming up)
Leato
Leato paced the room becoming extremely edgy quickly. They were close, and he had no fucking clue what was going on outside of the room. Tilting his neck until it popped, he sighed running a hand quickly through his wild hair. He sighed taking in deep breaths starting that fire in his stomach to ready himself. he couldn’t let anything get in to him yet. he just needed to shut himself off till the time came. he gritted his teeth in anticipation. Two Jedi. One could break him like a toothpick. The other had a shit load of time under her belt. Damn it. He needed to just leave people alone. He laughed wickedly to himself. "But where’s the fun in that."
Leiyn
Leiyn stared up at the man who had raped her... Gray eyes burned with hatred. Oh yes... Now as the grogginess and shock from being jerked out of sleep and into a sharp pain, she recognized him immediately. Her eyes shifted to the Captain who still held her lightsaber in hand. Then the question... 'How much do you think she'd sell for?' he'd asked. Her eyes narrowed slightly and she struggled to get away from the man who's name she had never learned. Then the small little woman who had taken care of her upstairs came to stand at the force field outside the cell. "Captain... There's a Mr. Kan to see you..." she says softly, disengaging the force field so he could step out. The Captain looked at the grip his underling had ahold of Leiyn's hair and smiled slightly. "Take good care of her, Dierk, and come upstairs and make yourself useful when you're done." He stepped out of the cell and walked off, the young woman on his arm... Leaving Leiyn there alone with Dierk. Ahh, so that was his name... Now she had a name to go with the face that would probably haunt her for the rest of her life... Meanwhile, the Captain escorted the young lady to a room along the way to his office upstairs where Leato was waiting. With Leiyn's lightsaber in hand, he strode into the room with an air of confidence around him... He was very self-assured in his ability to run this compound the way it needed to be run. Leiyn had been a general exception... "Greetings, Leato... Again... They're on their way, then?" he asks softly, putting the lightsaber down on the desk and leaning against it.
Adia
After having moved her shuttle closer to that of the others Adia stayed onboard for quite a bit of time keeping tabs on the communication channels just incase they would need her. However, now she was standing on the outside of it a few feet from the ramp keeping an eye out for anything and everything. The notion of not really going anywhere was slightly unentertaining for her; however, she has been in less enthusiastic about other various things that has happened throughout her life. She could see Merek and Anna from where she was standing, but would not be out there for long before heading back into her own shuttle. For some odd reason she was experiencing problems with that of her main engine, and HC-14 was assessing as well as working on the problem. It seemed to be a minor problem so she was not giving it much thought. She would walk into her cockpit and sit down once again listening for any communication. "Beep, rrrr, bop," sounded the droid. "That is very good HC-14. Are you ready to give her a try," she asked "Beep, beep," he sounds off. "Alright..." she says as sits up and starts the engine of the shuttle. With a very long sigh she was more than happy to see that her droid was able to work out the major problems with the engine. "Finally," she says under her breath.
Kabe
Hearing the echo of the dual towers go up with an explosive blast Kabe nodded to himself, only looking over his shoulder for a moment, confident that survival probability was near zero. Good. He turned back to Murra. "I doubt that they're doing five-minute com checks, but I give it at least fifteen before somebody realizes something's wrong." His voice came over the micro-com, the wind whipping past them stealing his words from the air but the miniature comlink caught it, and transmitted it to the Jedi Master seated on the bike ahead of him. For a moment he closed his eyes, imagining a sphere expanding from his body, mapping out the confines within it with great precision, making lifeforms, and physical mass, forming a sort of holographic representation of everything within one and a half kilometers... his Sphere of Responsibility. He weaved around a set of bushes, then climbed a slight bit. There would be another tower in only a minute or so. Then, after that, it would be only a minute or two to the compound. He bent low over the controls again, reducing both his and Murra's aerodynamic profile.
Merek
Merek smiled up at Anna, and closed his eyes, letting her quietness, and her gentle hands soothe him, and his frazzled nerves. Her hand in his hair felt nice, and he quietly said as much. "Good, I'm glad you're alright." It was then that he noticed the bright red of her right hand's knuckles, and he reached up and caught her by the hand, quickly, but gently, turning her hand over to look at it very carefully. "What did you hit?" His voice was calm, even, slightly stern but mostly because he needed to not have her beat around the bush. He looked up at her, his gray eyes finding her green. The thought passed through his head that she looked funny upside down, but shoved that thought away.
Dierk
Dierk gave Leiyn a wry smile, and let go of her hair. When she'd first been dragged to the compound here, her hair had been stark white, now its color was a dull, grimy brown, which was well set enough to look natural. What a pitiful thing she looked, broken and battered, the perfect image to match her inside. He shook his head and wiped off his hand. He stood and hefted his slim blaster-carbine, which had a full tactical loadout on it, and smiled down at her, almost a leer really. "Sorry, I cant stay and play princess, but I've got some real work to do. How's about you keep the bed warm for me?" He grinned, knowing full well she would be unable to leave the cot she was on under her own power, but he didn't care. He stepped out of the cell, snapped on the force-field again, then began following after the Captain. At least he was being paid for this…
Murra
Mura had bent low, giving the wookiee back the controls to the speeder. It would be easier to just let him drive as she sent her mind outward to Leiyn. It would be a warning that they were coming, if she was even aware of the Force to begin with. Murra was not certain, from this distance, just how much of a hold the other woman held on the Force. But, better to be safe then to be sorry. If Leiyn was aware and using the Force, she would certainly feel it. If not, then Leato would have a damn good idea of which way they were coming in from. In any case, it didn't matter. They would have to fight their way through the building, which meant that her set of rules were going to be compromised somewhere along the lines. Killing would occur. She was sure that not everyone would go as peacefully as some others.
Anna
A soft smile graced her lips. She was glad he had forgiven her for her reaction and walking off like that. Her hand in his hair was not only soothing to him, but it helped her as well. She hissed a bit as he took her hand, pain seeping from her wounded knuckles. Slight blush appeared on her cheeks and her smile grew into a smirk. What had she expected? He was bound to notice and to ask. He wouldn’t have let something like that slip by un-noticed. "I hit a wall." her words were quiet and short.
Leato
Leato greeted the man with a nod of his head and looked at the saber he had placed on the desk. His eyes came back up to the Captain. "Yes. They are on their way. And I would like my transport back to the main port to be readied. I don’t plan to stay here long once they arrive. And I suggest your men do the same." he walked to the desk slowly placing his hand on the saber lifting it to look upon. He hadn’t seen this weapon in a long time. It was a wonder she had it on her when we took her. He held it up. "You mind?" he implied he would like to take the weapon with him. He didn’t want to be rude to the man that was taking care of a lot of trouble for him. But he also didn’t want to get to the point of having to use any other form of persuasion. He wanted a smooth ride all the way till hyperspace. He knew it probably wasn’t going to be that easy but hey...he could dream.
Leiyn & The Captain
*Leiyn watched Dierk as he got up from her bunk and let go of her head. She jerked away from him forcefully and regretted it... Before he stalked away, she said the thing she'd been telling him since they first met. She'd been pestering him to know what his name was since day 1... "Well, Dierk, in ten years... I'll come back and spit on your grave, wherever it is. I'm sure you won't last that long." Her tone was dead serious, her eyes burning with hatred. Raw... seething... hatred...
Meanwhile, the Captain looked at Leato as spoke. His expression was blank, then nodded slowly. "I will ready a transport-- for you and others. If things get heavy, we'll get the non-essential personnel out first." He glanced down at Leato's hand as it moved to pick up the weapon. "Go ahead... I'd like to keep it, though. It is something that always catches your sister's attention when she's being stubborn," he says softly. He crosses his arms over his chest and closes his eyes. "She's incapacitated, but in good health... She was not a few days ago, but we've seen to that. Some of the guards have been handled appropriately for it." He didn't say what 'handled appropriately' meant, but he was sure Leato was smart enough to figure it out...
Kabe
Nearing the second set of towers Kabe growled, and this time he didn't leave the option to hail or shoot first. Instead, he wanted these sentries eliminated as quickly as possible. With that in mind, he pulled out two more grenades, also concussion grenades. He would have liked proton grenades, but the gigantic plasma-storm those would create would not be a good idea for something that was supposed to be discreet, like this. Shots rang out at their aggressive approach, but he knew when they were going to fire and were, before they did thanks to his connection to the Force, and his sphere of responsibility. As the bike whined over the terrain, crossing a kilometer in little more than seven seconds, he triggered the concussion grenades, counting down the timers appropriately, he threw the grenades appropriately, giving them guidance with the Force to fall directly inside the towers. Flying on, only a second later, well clear of the blast-radius, twin compression waves burst forth from the towers, followed by a gout of fire as the grenades detonated sharply, ripping metal, flesh, and bone apart with the explosive and destructive energies presented by the grenades. Sorry, but I don't have a choice. His thoughts were directed to the lives he had just taken, but this was just another aspect of war.. and people die in war.
Merek
Merek looked at her hand again, then shook his head. "Walls don't hit back. Looks like you lost still though." He turned her hand over and kissed her reddened and slightly swollen knuckles softly, his lips teasing the inflamed skin lightly, then moved her hand to rest against his chest, and laid his head back on her lap, then... from somewhere.. he felt... something.. familiar. He stiffened slightly, not liking it. It could have been his imagination... he wasn't sure though... it had been a decade since he'd felt that... and he didn't like the meaning, nor did he wish to experience it again...He looked up at Anna with a worried expression, then sighed. Might be the imagination.. might not, who knew.
Dierk
They are on their way," He heard echoed from the office, seeing Leato and the Captain there. He recognized the former, if only in name, and appearance. Dierk pulled his comlink off his belt, and set it for the main frequency the operations on the compound used. "Look alive, ladies and gentlemen, we have a different kind of company coming to town. Full alert, everybody get your gear. Action stations everybody." His voice echoed through the compound, relayed by the intercom system, and by the comlinks there. He knew it would only take moments for everyone to 'scramble' considering most were already alert enough as it was with the presence of Sheridan Karrde nearby. Dierk peeked into the office, and waved to the Captain. "With that, I'mma take my happy lil ass up to the roof. Anything you two need before I go?" He knew they probably didn’t, but he asked anyway. It was only proper.
Murra
Murra took the controls back from Kabe as he set the next set of explosives. With his form blocking her, Murra only felt a small bit of the expanding shock wave. It would die away shortly, as the energy from the explosives he used died into nothing. So it was that she returned the controls to the wookiee once again, keeping herself concentrated on certain people within the compound. She knew Kabe had his Sphere of Responsibility tweaked, so she didn't need to encompass the entire building. That was not what she was here to do. Under her breath, Murra muttered to herself, it was a short string of Corellian curses that would lead into a prayer to the Force. She hoped it was on their side today, Murra did not feel like loosing any one from her team, nor did she feel like taking any more lives then she had to.
Anna
Anna almost laughed at his words. Her smirk went back to a smile and she nodded. "I know they don’t hit back, but it has a nice size crater in it now." She let him kiss her knuckles then place her hand on his chest. Watching him she noticed the change in him, his stiffening. Her face filled with concern. "What’s wrong?" Something was up and she hoped he would tell her.
Leato
He smiled with a little cockiness in it placing the saber on his belt. "She wont be here much longer for that anyways." He turned and went to the door. "I want everything ready before they get here." He opened it walking out into the hall. He didn’t have time to debate with this man, and when the funds didn’t show up there would be yet another person out for his head. Oh well? What’s one more person. He smiled to himself as he walked down the hall stopping and turning back to see if the man was fallowing. "And I am pleased she was well taken care of Captain."
The Captain
The Captain's eyes narrowed as Leato clipped it onto his belt. "I see... Well." He turned to follow after glancing at the reports on his desk. The last being the report of Leiyn's recent examination that he'd not had the time to read before going to see her with Dierk at his side. His dark eyes returned to Leato's form as he reached the door. "Not the entire time, but I have not been here to oversee her special care throughout her stay with us... Dierk has kept an eye on her for the most part. The woman you murdered took most of that responsibility." Ahh... Yes. He did know about the scraggly old lady that Leato had beheaded at one of the Boss's other building back inside the city. The guards had reported it to him via comlink while he and Dierk had been on their way to go see Leiyn... As soon as they had gotten word from the other location where the woman's body had been found. He follows after obediently, being on Leato's payroll as far as Leiyn went, and would oversee the operations that would organize the transports.
Kabe
"Calm down, we'll be alright. I know that once we get there, they'll probably all start running. There's no profit in fighting Jedi, unless they‘re being paid insanely well, which means they probably aren‘t going to be paid." His words were soothing and quiet, directed toward bringing Murra back to her center instead of getting bent all out of shape because of her anxieties. It was good to know she was still hum.. er.. a um.. sentient being capable of emotion though. "Speaking of running, I don’t want Leato getting to that shuttle and getting to hyperspace before we can get to him. That's the first thing on the list. Trash the transports and vehicles. We don’t want him getting out of here on us. I've got a lot of grenades, and I also have my high explosive quarrels with me." The auto-carbine had been overkill, but it seemed that everything else he'd brought was essential.
Merek
Merek looked up at Anna, then toward where the compound was. "I think there's somebody else here... someone I would rather forget." His tone was serious, slightly wistful, and somewhat sad, but only because of the problems presented by the memories resurfacing. He reached up and brushed her cheek with his fingertips again, then settled his head back down, closing his eyes, trying to at least appear to be drifting off to sleep, letting his body relax, and un-tense.
Dierk
Dierk would have shot Leato then, if he hadn't been working for him. He was no fool. He'd spent a good part of his time drilling these men and women, getting them ready for a confrontation that might very well take their lives, but when was that any other day than facing the Protectorate. If he had indeed intended to fire upon Leato, it wouldn’t have been with a bolt of anything. That could be deflected.... easily at this range. No, he would go another route. As it was there were running figures behind him, sprinting to their posts. His green eyes glittered like that of a predator on the hunt, and he spun from the room, heading to the back side of the compound, which took him not long at all to reach. From there he began scaling his way onto the roof, which also took only a couple minutes more.
Murra
She would have shaken her head in response to what the wookiee was saying. She was not so much as worried about herself and Kabe, as she was worried about those lives within and around the compound. She still had issues with the Dark Side, this nagging sensation that should she enter into any kind of combat situation where her need to bring out her weapon over cast anything else, that she would indeed reach for aggression as a means to ending it all. This was not what should be within her mind, Murra knew that she should have been at a clam, surrendering the path ahead to the Force and allowing what was to come, come. "They are not here to kill us out right, Kabe, or at least we do not know if they are, for sure. They are here To keep us busy and away from Leiyn." she had reached up, tentatively, receding back against Kabe in order to access her com unit so that she could speak to him. Even with the little healing stunt back on the Veritas, Murra was certain he would be able to feel her apprehension about going full force into an open combat situation.
Anna
She followed his gaze for a moment then looked back down at him. Nodding, Anna wondered what it was he was speaking of, but held back on pressing the issue. If he was ready for her to know, he would tell her. She smiled softly as his hand touched her cheek before he settled back into her lap. Her left hand continued to stroke his hair, her right laid still on his chest, her fingers beginning to lose the pain in them more. She could now feel the soft thump-thump thump-thump of his heart beat. She would let him rest if he needed it. There was no more they could do at this moment.
Leato
He nodded slowly crossing his arms as he walked. He didn’t even care or show any emotion to the fact they knew about the old woman. "I’m glad we could have work together. I might come back for another job. You’ve done so well. " He was slowly making his way to the direction to where his ship would be waiting for him. "Once they get here make sure you move Leiyn into the line of fire. They wont dare do anything to harm her. She’s important." He sighed stopping to watch as the people under this man worked. Most of them wouldn’t see the next day if they come up against these Jedi. He hoped they were in good with their gods. His lips spread into a grin as he looked back at the Captain.
The Captain
The Captain followed along behind Leato, hands tucked neatly behind his back. He maintained professionalism throughout-- it never wavered-- he had always been like that... It was why the Boss had chosen him to run this compound in his absence. His eyes followed Leato's every move. Then the point about Leiyn... Being moved into the line of fire? One thick brow rose in question, but he said nothing. His expression had changed from blank to one of cynicism. "As you wish... I will have one of the lieutenants bring her to the main floors." As they passed by the next station, he spoke to one of the guards and issued the order. They quickly set about the task and one rushed away to go fetch the young woman... "We will see how this all goes, but I'm going to lose a lot of men over this..." He looked at Leato pointedly. "I'd better be well compensated for this-- because if I'm not, their families will be left with nothing." He was not a heartless man. He cared for his personnel and their families... But business was business. If it meant the loss of life, so be it. Its not like he knew these men. Besides, being a guard in a smuggler and slaver's compound paid hefty prices... If they weren't willing to commit, then they should not have signed on...
