anna sat in the cockpit of her new ship. she glanced over at merek then down at the console as she recieved the corrodinates for the veritas. her mind drifted to thoughts of leato, she knew he was not happy with the company she now kept, but she refused to leave him behind. ture, she hadnt let merek and leato meet, but she felt it wasnt time for it yet. they would meet soon enough. that and she wanted to spare merek from leato as long as possible. she was afraid of what leato would do or say to make this harder on them. she refused to feel guilty for making friends and for letting them travel with her. she couldnt exactly tell merek no anyway. the ship they were now sitting in was partially his. they had split the cost of the sunskimmer after her old ship was dismantled by the shitty repair crew at the space port. the mechanic merek said could fix it, couldnt; and after searching for just about an entire day, they found themselves looking up at the matte crome hull of this yacht-type ship. sure it had enough fire power to make a trigger happy fool exstatic, but it was also had attitude with its sleek black lines, wich swept along the sides of the ship like an evil grin, and red racing stripe-like accents. anna had fallen in love with it at first sight.
powering up the ship only took a few moments. soon they were sky bound and headed for the veritas.

Leiyn drifted...
She had suffered in this one spot for longer than she could recall. After the first week of captivity, the days had begun to blur. She slept more often than not. She did not want to feel the pain anymore... She had been starved, beaten, raped, and heaven knows what else. There was so much she couldn't remember. She could not remember the name of the one who had betrayed her. Could not remember his face. Only the vivid sense of fear and sharp pain was all she could recall. Afterwards, she could recall only murmured voices. Two men. Arguing... Agreement... A deal had been struck. And thus... She had become the prisoner at the mercies of the local crimelords.
Her lucid moments were few and far between. There had been so many injuries... Concussions, broken bones, beatings, and on occasion-- intentionally stabbed. She had lain in this dark and damp cell for weeks now. The feeling of hopelessness had long since washed over her. Fear was constant. She had abandoned the Force years ago. Ever since her twin brother, Orin, had died. And the Force had abandoned her as well. No longer could she sense anyone she had been close to. Not Murra. Not Leato. Not Jeryndi...
Ord Mantel had been a difficult place to live, but she had called this place home for a long time. She had been a thorn in the backside of all the crimelords ever since she had gotten here. Though she had given up the Jedi ways, she had not lost her entire sense of right and wrong... She had often been the one to intervene when one of the crimelords had decided to terrorize innocent people. They had never openly challenged her. There were rumors about her.... Rumors that were not true. Hah... She was not a Jedi. Nor was she Sith. Hell... She wasn't even a Force-user anymore, was she?
Now... She had gone from lowly laborer to a captive. More than half the time, she did not even register that she was a prisoner. Only the pain. The suffering. Many times in her confused moments, she wished for death. And when her sanity returned and the agony had subsided, she would kick herself. She knew better. For a very long time, she had been indifferent to everyone and everything. She would do whatever suited her best at the time. No fear of consequences... Live life in the moment. There was no future. There was no past... But then, she would remember Orin...
It had been a dream, surely. She no longer had any real contact with the Force. It had not been a vision... But he had been there, comforting her. He had lectured her. The memory came freely in her mind as she drifted... In the dream, she had told him that he was gone... And she would never have him back... He had answered... "You have me... In your heart and in your mind. Death is a part of life Leiyn. I died so another could live. He chose his path. Life is priceless. You know that. A Jedi preserves it at all costs. Yo cant be like this. Not because of me or him. You are strong... Just as strong as I ever was. Don't second guess yourself. We are one. Our power came from the same source. You just chose to not use it. Good will come of this, I promise you. In the end it will all be as the Force has set for it. You are the last of the Dars. Dont let our name go down as a whisp in the wind. You can be that Jedi also... But you could also be that Sith. We all choose our paths. And we all have our destinies. Dont let yours slip by because of the past. Leave what's in the past back there. Use it to better yourself. I have faith in you, sister. You should too."
Perhaps it had been subconscious guilt manifesting itself in her dreams... Or a real memory that she had forgotten in her madness... Either way, guilt made its way to the surface sooner or later. Guilt that was truly hers. There was no justification. It made her heart ache to remember him. His death. It had sent her into a downward spiral. For a while, she had forced herself to forget everything. That she had ever had a brother. Let alone remember his death. Her memories had been fake. She remembered... She was ashamed... If she made it out of this, she swore to herself that she would find a way to make ammends...
Her deep thoughts were interupted as the cell door was opened and a middle aged woman brought in a tray of food and laid it in front of Leiyn. Once again, she had become aware of the intense pain. Her leg was broken and had not been set. She was laying on her stomach, her hands bound behind her back. She refused to move, even as she laid there and stared at the food. The young woman knew that if she moved her head that her stomach would heave. When you were literally starving, heaving was one of the worst feelings in the world. The older woman had been the only one to take care of Leiyn in the weeks of her captivity... But there was only so much she could do. When her body had been too weak to even move, the woman had fed her. When her bones had been broken, the woman had set them again.
The middle aged woman touched Leiyn's soiled hair and let her fingers trail over the long braid. Her hair was normally white, the same as Orin's had been, but because of the deplorable conditions of her confinement, her body and hair had been caked in body soil... They had intentionally put her in the most filthy place they could find to hold her that she would not escape from... Not that she had been in any condition to attempt escape. Her gray eyes had grown dull. Her clothes had been torn and ripped from where she had fought against her rapists. The entire cell smelled putrid from the splatters of her own vomit and blood... And simply because it was located very close to the sewers.
The older woman lingered for a few moments to make sure that Leiyn was healing okay and then reset her leg, knowing that Leiyn would not move it. She would have to splint it later. The woman left, leaving Leiyn alone again... The room was so dark that she could barely see the tray in front of her face. Sighing, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. Sleep was the only true relief she had these days...
She would never be the same... Little did she know that in the past few weeks her body had become a temple. A sanctuary for life within. Salvation was within her reach... Whether it was her memories of Orin... Or the need to overcome the obstacles set before her instead of running away... Or maybe salvation lay with the next generation of the Dar family....
(OOC Note: Its been 6-8 weeks since Leiyn was captured. Just so you all know... )

He did not pay atention to time. To the fact that it would only be a little longer till the fodder hit the fan. He sat in the pilots seat, eyes closed meditating on the task at hand. They were going to be very unwelcome when they got where they were going. He new this all to well. His jump exit was only 14 seconds before the rest of them. What they had set up for them escaped him. He only new that they had a planed attack. The ships were marked and would be spoted in moments. For this much pain and this much anguish he felt He had betrayed Murra for bringing her along. But he knew he couldnt feel that. Couldnt let it cloud him.
He sent a small message over his com to the Varitas.
"Be prepared for anything. I have a bad feeling about this."

During the flight to Ord Mantel, the team had been introduced to eachother, all the players were now known to one another, all but for Leato. That would come when they met planet side. She was certain that those who did not know him were eager to find out who had led them into this dance hall. At the moment she was sitting in the conference lounge, waiting for the others to show up.
She had been meditating, and during her meditations she had reached out for Leyin. She had found the other woman, but she had also felt pain -- anguish of so many forms. Leato had not been lying when he said that Leyin was in danger. It still troubled her that she knew not what they were up against. He had said she had been captured by smugglers. It would have to be a pretty damn big group of smugglers to catch a Force User off gaurd, as well as to hold them as they were Leyin. Murra had no idea that Leyin had abandonded all Force usage all together.
She had given commands to the piloting crew of the Veritas to be ready for anything, any coms that came through were to be patched into the lounge where Murra could address them herself. "Leato," She spoke outloud, as if he were in the room with her, "We are right on your tail, lead us in..."

He noded a little and replied. "I'll do my best Murra. You just keep that big boat tight on my aft. Stay in my ion wake and it will all be good. If you think you can."
He grined at his last remark. He ment it as it sounded. A dear of sorts. Catch me if you can Jedi. She was the only other person that could handle his ship as good as he. That he new first hand. With a long sigh he sat back in his seat.
"Let the fun begin.

She smiled, looking upward and across the room where his voice filtered in from the com unit, "Just be mindful of your own ass Leato, my crew can handle themselves..." It was just like old times with Orin, she thought for a moment. The bickering that developed between the two of them, ment purely in jest. She was becoming attached to Leato, she was not certain if it was a good thing or a bad thing...not yet anyway...

He laughed aloud at that. "My ass is in very good hands Murra. You dont need to be worrying about THAT part of me." he got a warning bleep from the nav com. Time was elapsing so much. They were getting close now. "Be there soon. See you on the ground. Good luck. Force be with you all." He shut the com down and hoped up. Makeing his way back to his small cabin he grabed a shoulder holster from a hook on the wall. Placeing it on he took the black hilted saber placeing it in the crook of the small of his back. He took his robes pulling them around him concealing the weapon all together. The second saber hung openly on his hip like most did. As he walked back to the cockpit he let the force flow through him. Prepareing himself. "May the force be with us all."

She chuckled to herself, wishing him the will of the Force as he had with her. If they could all walk away from this it would be better for them. If not then it would be as it should...or as the Force would will it all in the end. She fell silent as the com was cut off, returning her to the silence of the lounge around her. The members of her team would be assemebled soon, and after that they would scramble for their respective ships.

Post by Sheridan Karrde on Jul 5, 2005 12:27:31 GMT -5
Sheridan had a bad feeling about this trip. All her instincts pointed to this being some elaborate trap by Leato. There was something greatly amiss here and she couldnt put her finger on it. This frustrated her greatly. Even smugglers would not have come after a force using woman without an incredible amount of money behind it. Noone funded those things but Moonrider. If it was indeed smugglers, would she know them, would they know her, and could she talk them into the release of the woman without any fighting being involved? Her mind wandered, unable to concentrate on mediation in her morning routine. In fact, even her excersizing routine was off. This did not bode well for them.
While Sheridan did not know the answers to this, she hoped to keep Murra from danger and save the girl at the same time without much fighting and especially no loss of life. She entered the room Murra was in and smiled. She wore a plain black sleeveless vneck tank with black pants and various holsters for her guns. Her hair was in a french braid. She had a serious look in her eyes, that meant nothing but business. Her mind was free of everything but this mission. (though this had been quite the task to acheive)
"Where do we stand Master?"

Murra nodded to Sheridan as she entered, brining herself out of her momentary concentration. She sat forward, balancing her elbows on her knees, clasping her hands together before her. She had become quite fond of this particular way of sitting. It was relaxing...sort of. "Well, Sheridan, we still have no names to put with out mission. Nor do we have any numbers. But we do have one thing that we didn't have before. I have aquirred confirmation within the Force. Leyin Dar, our target is planet side, and she is being held against her will." She sighed and shook her head, , "Whatever they have done to her, its left her an awful mess..."

She sighed softly, momentarily sympathizing with the woman held captive. "There are many ways that women are easier to torture than men." IT was the truth women were less physical in most ways and physical torture was easier to use on a woman than a man. Rape was a violent method that most everyone used nowadays, a sickening thought.
"But, a womans mind is harder to break than a mans. THere is still hope that she will make it out and eventually be some semblance of what she should be." With a lot of therapy and some other wonderful things modern medicine and physciatry had at their disposal. THough Jedi tended to their emotions by themselves, this often caused more harm than good as far as Sheridan could ever recollect. Hopefully this womans body could be healed so that her mind would follow after. One would take more time to heal than the other, but with good friends and good doctors, both could be treated.
"Our main goal here is to save her. Everything else, well, everything else is at the way side. We need a plan, what are our roles in this? Should I try to negotiate? THey are supposedly smugglers. ANd then there is still my concern that Leato still has something up his sleeve. GIve me a priority, watching your back, or rescuing the girl." She was serious, still all business. But she was concerned about Murra and Leatos plans. WOuld Murra be able to handle a man that half the time was someone she loved and trusted, and half the time was someone entirely different and not at all someone she could depend on? SHeridan was naturally cautious and quite suspicious of Leato.

Anna sat forward resting her elbows on her knees listening to murra speak of what had happened to leiyn, plans and other things. her hands were clasped before her, much like murra's had been. she looked down at her hands then back up as Sheridan walked in. she listened intently. this was the first time she really heard what was going on. she had left leato's side on bastion to wander around, and hadn't heard a word he spoke to Sheridan and murra. it wasn't like she would have refused to help, she knew leiyn briefly when Orin was alive. it didn't exactly sit well with her to let Orin's sister stay in the condition that she was in now.
She sat back and glanced at merek before turning her eyes back to Sheridan and the Jedi master, her thoughts moving to leato. she knew most if not all of the people in this room didn't trust him or questioned him in some way. she, too, didn't know if he could be trusted. however, he had promised not to hurt her, and he hadn't, yet. she wasn't certain if he would or not, but until he did, she would remain his student and fight by his side. for a fleeting moment, the thought that perhaps he knew this and was using it to his advantage slipped into her head. blinking, Anna pushed the thought away. leiyn was more important then her own problems right now. Anna for one couldn't sit back and let something bad happen when she had the chance to prevent it. with that, her focus had grown. she would face murra later about their personal matters, her internal debate on trusting leato would be addressed at another time. right now, getting leiyn was more important.
(ooc: yes john i know i jumped the gun.. but i had to get some sort of rp in before work.. im gonna be there all damn day again.*sighs*)
