A week and a half later…
From that little locked away workshop, Trevor Keaton had made his way back to the port where his ship waited. He was bound up against the atmosphere once more, and was soon to be leaving that space station. It would not take more than a couple of days to retrace his steps back to the Justicar.
He never liked leaving her alone for too long, and his inspection once he got back to her was more than thorough. Not a nick, not a dent, not a scratch went without being observed. She’d been unmolested during the short time that he’d been away from her, her hull a condition that was all too familiar to him.
From there it was a ride back to Hapes. Trevor Keaton would be getting a buyer for those twelve battle droids he housed in that little workshop. They’d been packed up, and within days Trevor would be returning with a bigger ship with which to deliver them to a shipping company that would deliver them to his anonymous buyer from the Hapes Consortium.
This was all done through the proper channels, the sale and buying of these droids. Solomon made sure to get the right licenses for them in the meantime. The only slight of hand that took place was the relationship between Trevor and Sol himself. One didn’t exist. There was no connection at all to be tracked or observed other than Solomon responding to an ad for used droids on the holonet. The delivery to Hapes had been agreed upon and was set to occur at the capital city’s port.
During that time Trinity had been informed of his purchases. With the kids in the house, with the new-ness of the droids and with everything that had happened in the war he wasn’t going to bring them in without talking to her first. The first six were to be converted to gardening droids, their programming helping to see to the large garden he had surrounded their house by.
The other six were to remain as they were, and all were to run on an independent system protected against the likes of AI packets. Modifications were made to each, kill switches would be tweaked and each would soon sport a light on their shoulder connected to a system much akin to Hydra. He could have let the risks lay, he knew, and not even used the droids but finding someone to train with was out of the question until he could regain his control. He would not even allow himself to square off with Trinity in a friendly match. There was too much damage that could have been done.
That was the plan.
Hapes
“Daddy!” The happy voice of Ureala came bounding up to him as he made that last final step off of the ramp of the Justicar, swooping down as he went to scoop the white haired-half Echani girl up into his arms, planing a messy kiss to her cheek.
He pulled back just for a moment, his grin wide, before leaning in to give the girl another kiss, “Hey there, Princess!”
“Ew! Gross!” Her little pout was met with a laugh from Solomon when she reached up to swipe the moisture away from her cheek. The pout was gone after a moment, though, her smile returning when she dove in to wrap her arms around his neck in a tight hug. “Missed you, daddy.”
“I missed you, too, bug. Momma’s inside?” He gave the girl a gentle squeeze while she nodded.
“She’s trying to get Zachy to eat, but he doesn’t want to. He’s being bad. He won’t even eat for Miss Anna!”
“He won’t, huh? Well, let’s see if we can do something about that.” The weight of his daughter was shifted, lifted and settled closer to him before he turned and moved to hit the ramp release on the Justicar’s hull. Leaving it to close up on its own, Sol turned and headed for the house with Ureala in his arms while the little girl occupied herself by messing with the hair just behind his left ear.
It was just a few short steps, but by the time they got there Sol was rolling his head against his left shoulder causing the girl to giggle while he shot fake frowns at her. Once inside, though, the game was over and he was bending to put her down. That was alright for her, it was easy enough for her to take his hand and lead him into the kitchen where Trin sat with Zach on her lap, with Anna and New’un at the table in the center of the room.
“I hear the boy doesn’t want to eat,” He said by way of announcing himself, calling Trin to look his way with a relieved smile. Zach looked his way, too, and began bouncing against Trinity’s legs excitedly.
Crossing the short distance, he bent and placed a kiss to Trinity’s lips before withdrawing to look toward Anna and New’un while tipping his head in acknowledgement.
“How did it go?” Was the question he got from his to-be wife, calling his attention back toward her and the child on her lap who was reaching up for him with eager arms. With easy care he lifted the boy's weight and took Zachory into his arms.
“It went well. We’ll find out in a few days if it worked.” He told her, looking then toward their house guests, “You’ll stay here with us until we know for sure if it went through. I’ll keep my eye on things for you.” He was then looking back toward Trin while Zach snuggled in close and laid his head against Sol’s shoulder, “The droids should be here in a few days also.”
A brief pause was given there, his right hand lifted to lay against Zachory’s back. He was smaller than Ureala, their growth differing by what seemed ages. They were the same age, not too far apart, but Ureala’s growth had her the size and age of a six year old, while Zack was edging closer to two.
With Zach in his arms, Sol moved to join them at the table while Trin leaned to pick Ureala up and settle the girl where Zach had been sitting. “Geraint came by to see you while you were away,” She told Sol after a moment, “He said he’d try to make it back soon.”
There was a small nod after Sol turned his head to lay a gentle kiss to the back of Zachory’s head. The child hadn’t moved since he’d picked him up, having settled comfortably, and heavily, against his shoulder.
“I’ll give him a call then to let him know I’m home.” Sol said with a small nod, falling into an odd sort of silence. It was weighted with the thoughts running through his head and Trin knew right away.
“What is it, Sol?” She asked, casting a glance toward Anna and New’un, knowing that he might not want to talk about it in front of them, whatever ‘it’ might have been. He was getting better at being open with her, but there were still things and still people he felt the need to hedge around.
He gave the boy against his shoulder another light kiss before answering, “After I get the droids set up, let’s take a trip to Corellia. I -- I need to go home for a while.”
