So I'm trying to rebuild some archives from back in the day. Unfortunately with the archiving of the forum, and having it locked away I cannot access those old files/data. I will post here the needed thread-links if I have them. However, it would be appreciated if the powers that be could make the archives accessible in general. Thread links swrpforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=icposts&action=display&thread=1203959313

John, with how few people use this board and the punch of the other thread, I missed your post. I've looked at the archived forum and you should have access, so I'm not sure what's up with that. Aside from the link you provided, can you tell me what the thread title was, and any hint as to content?

Hey there. Surprised you're willing to talk to me at all. Thank you for trying to help.
I don't remember the specifics at this time as it's been nearly three months. It had to do with one of my Jedi characters. I think it was training or something. Or it might have been part of the meetup waaay back in the day. It was either Dantooine or Dathomir. Can't remember which.
Sorry I'm not more helpful or useful on that front.
Um... I've never had access to the archives since threads were migrated to it. Apparently I've also lost a lot of threads and data over time. Thankfully I do have a good cross section of stuff stored from Yahoo. It's just time consuming to go back through it all. My mistake for thinking I could trust the archival system that was in place. Or trusting the cloud system they went to. I'm trying to create archives now that I maintain separately.
I've done a lot of writing over the years. We all have. It's been a journey, and I've grown and faltered, and grown again. The last few years have been spent studying story craft and writing craft. And in many ways I want to have all of this as record. But I also want to hold on to the memory, and also see if I can use it as fuel.
Truth be told, I've considered writing here again, but I'm pretty sure nobody wants me around. And that's fine. I've made my mistakes. I wound up being fairly toxic for a while. You were all far more kind and patient than I deserved. It's because of that though, that I haven't. And even if I did, I'd have to start over. Not because I can't write. Far from it. But rather, everything has changed in uncountable ways. Old concepts don't really fit anymore, and new ones would have to be forged. (I'm okay with that, I do it all the time.) But, y'know. History.
Mostly looking to recover the good and fun bits.

Just to be certain that we're talking about the same thing: The archive to which you refer is "The Jedi Archives" linked from the main forum page?
If so, there's barely anything in there. Only one IC item, posted by Bobbi (not sure why it wound up in there), and the old sub-board "SWRP Freeform," which contains writings not intended to tie in with the main SWRP game.
If you mean some other archive, then I'm not sure where that's supposed to be. Since Dave did some of that aborted rearranging (and therefore I might not have known about it), I went in and looked at the base forum tree, and there aren't any secrets to be found there.
For as long as it's viable, I hope that anyone who ever wrote here can use these forums to go back and read (or grab) their stuff, as you're looking to do. It bothers me if anything has disappeared, especially transcripts or IC posts. If you're willing to screenshot the forum you say is locked for you (the error or "access denied" message, specifically), I can at least be sure we're both focused in the right direction.
I can tell you that you are absolutely not banned or otherwise deliberately locked out of anything that might contain an IC post; I double-checked to be sure. Also, when I replied to you here the first time, I made sure "The Jedi Archives" were set to be accessible to everyone. (The link you offered before didn't work for me either, of course, so any other details you can offer would be welcome!)

No like, when things were being cleaned up, it's like all those old posts/transcripts were just wiped out. And locked behind the Jedi Archives. Ostensibly to make room for new stuff. Only the GM's supposedly had access to those threads. Why that was done is beyond me. It looks like an entire chunk of history is now lost to the annals of time, sadly. As for that thread specifically, it's the only one I could find a direct link to, so far, in my records. And it seems to have been one of the ones wiped out. As for the screenshot, here you go.I had no assumption there was any sort of banning going on, or that I specifically had been locked out of anything. I'm pretty much of the mind that nobody here would do that without saying something to me about it. (Anything else is just bad moderation.) Anyway, thank you for looking into it. Thank you for trying. Maybe I can still dig it up through some other esoteric wizardry.

That error is the same one I get when I click your link. It doesn't mean you are locked out of any forum. Since the post that links is not found in the Jedi Archives, and there aren't other hidden caches of posts, I could only think it was deleted, except for one thing: "...thread=1203959313" If that is supposed to be the thread number, it is not comparable to any sequence of threads on any forum here. Obviously, your link did come from here, but I can't replicate any function so far that results in a number that high. It is possible that ProBoards simplified or changed how thread linking worked between the time you copied that and now, and it's also possible that I'm just missing it, but the result is that I still don't have an answer for you, and this problem is not due to you lacking access to any archive. Are there any other threads you have links for that have vanished this way? (Edit: Battle and Bones Ignoring the format of the link itself, might this be the thread for which you hunt?)

Maybe. Thank you for digging that up.
Also you're going a lot farther than I would have expected. Which I appreciate it. But I gave up on it like two or three posts ago.

I actually went back and cleaned up that post. Edited it for better, easier reading. Stronger writing choices. Added a little bit in. (Which is also something I'm doing lately.)

Also you're going a lot farther than I would have expected. Which I appreciate it. But I gave up on it like two or three posts ago. I like a good puzzle and dislike the idea that people's contributions might be missing from the forums. You asked for assistance; of course I'd try to offer some. I hope that was the piece you were after.

I think so. I'm glad you found it. And even if it wasn't it's certainly one of the pieces/items/writing I wanted to recover.
Thank you so much for your help. It's greatly appreciated. ^_^
