They had arrived, cordoning off the area with their vehicles. The scene was a hard one to believe; a young man lay on the sidewalk, his body charred and still smoking. His chest was a gaping hole, straight through to the ground beneath him. His young eyes were lifeless, his dark hair pushed back out of his face, as if moved so he could look up at the clearing Corellian skies.
His attire was simple, description less except for the fact that it could be described as the kind of garb worn by those who followed the religious sect known as "Jedi". The by-standers seemed skittish, frightened to just be milling about. This was also unusual, as most times curiosity got the better of people. In this situation, they seemed to just want to get away.
A perimeter was set up swiftly, witnesses weeded out within the crowd. There weren't many who were brave enough to stand out and explain what they had seen. It would make it a difficult case to crack. Speculation about that came from the fact that the lad had two lightsabers on him. One was old, damaged and battle worn. The other was pristine, well kept and gleaming in its metal casing.
From what they could gather, through means of identity found on the youth, his name was Darien Tekal. That name, Tekal, CorSec knew well enough to know that it meant trouble. There was a woman on file named Murra Tekal, who had a record a mile long, and just as wide. All that information, though, would be discovered after the initial findings at the crime scene.
From what the investigators, on site, could gather from the witnesses who did speak up, they found there had been an attack made on the young man. His attacker, seemingly, had knowledge of this young man and his family. Some witnesses swore that the killer had spoken to the victim as if he knew the kid personally.
While the invertveiws were taking place, the evidence was being gathered. The com unit was located, still switched on. A trace was run, locating the home of the Tekals. That was how they had found the family of Jedi who had still been trying to recover from feeling the loss. Medical transportation was provided when CorSec agents had discovered the injured form of Ureala Tekal, ushering the family to the hospital in safety.
Darien's lightsaber, and the one that Leato had left on the doorstep, had been confiscated, filed under evidence. They may have been able to get finger prints off of the damaged hilt, as well as the com unit.
