The boom of lighting striking caught the air with a deadly crackling eruption of the thunder that usually follows it.
In the darkness that has swallowed the planet whole, two sabres bring light. Bright hideous creations of destruction and yet the favorred weapon for a thousand generations of Jedi Knights.
It was with weapons like these that the fate of the galaxy had been decided time and time again. Time and time again brothers have been brought to bare these luminous swords, the embodiment of their spirits, against each other.
How many years ago was it that Luke Skywalker walked the lonely path of fate to meet his own father in battle? How many years before that had it been that Obi-Wan Kenobi and his first student, the choosen one lit the fiery world of Mustaafar with their very hearts on the line?
Now it was that two more brothers had taken up this weapon. Taken up a life following a path that they couldn't know where it would end. With fiery hearts and strong faith in their beliefs they wouldn't stop until the other submitted.
It was in their stubborn Corellian Blood to fight this out till exhaustion or death wouldn't allow them to continue.
Within a clearing just outside an old Theta-Class transport's landing area lightsabres raged. Orange spinning within one Jedi Master's hand, striking out to meet the violet sabre that had lunged at his throat.
For the Jedi Knight, this was his solemn and righteous duty to purge the galaxy of evils like the one he clashed with. Each viper's strike was one more strike closer to absolution for sins his brother committed.
For the Jedi Master, it was his grievious and painstaking duty to free the eyes of the galaxy from the viel that had descended upon the once free peoples. Each parry was a strike to his heart, every twisted dodge was pain that he feverishedly hid.
He'd fight even if he had not arms, he'd fight till he had nothing left to fight with, for now his one hand managed to keep his brother at bay, until the words built in his throat, and as he shunted an incoming strike he shouted...
"Why!?"
The word caught his brother off guard, as if he expected Caedmon to truly know why. The moment off guard was the end of this fight... a simple slice through the top of lightsabres hilt sent the sparking amethyst bolt into nothingness.
Cae was quick to raise the orange sabre to Luscious' throat, and for a long moment the two Cato's stared at each other.
It had been years. Lifetimes since they had last lay eyes on each other.
For Caedmon their first engagment had been on unequal grounds, here was a meeting they should have had. The snap-hiss of his blade disipation was the only other sound in their area.
With the violent lighting strikes they had sent animals running, they had made this area as quiet as it might ever be.
"[red]For all that you have done; Traitor.[/red]"
Taken aback, Caedmon lowerred his lightsabre and shook his head.
"I did not..."
"[red]You Did. Your the reason they...[/red]"
"Luscious... I swear to you, I would never..."
"[red] We rotted in Kessel! Me... Ma... Sis...[/red]"
Horror obviously took Caedmon face, and as he clipped the sabre to his hip, he moved for the shuttle...
"And I thought the ashes of your corpses had blown all over me..."
He didn't look back, but he could tell Luscious was thinking the scenario over again..
"[red]Then you didn't betray us to the Hutts?[/red]"
"Atticus said it best; I care too much..."
The wisdom of their father caught Luscious off guard for a moment. And Caedmon could hear the puking of his own brother, as if Luscious could purge years of hate from his system in such a manner.
Finally the two made it up the ramp, Luscious muttering a small oath that Caedmon didn't hear. As he plopped down infront of a medical station he blinked and cast a glance Luscious ways.
"[Red]I had figured you'd be the one to... succumb and repent[/red]"
Caedmon only flashed a grin as he settled himself in and the droid began to set the constructed mechanical hand in..
"Lucky for you Luscious, I don't hold grudges anymore.."
The craft took off, firing out of the gravity well and into the depths of Duro's system, the brothers were exchanging stories for the duration of the treatment, when it was finally complete, Caedmon flexed his fingers, making sure he could feel them, that they would react in the same manner.
It was akward at first, but not something he couldn't adjust to... and tinker with.
"[red]Where do we go from here?[/red]"
"I am going to Bastion. You? You are going to join with the other Jedi..."
Luscious shook his head, defiance catching dark blue pupils.
"[red] This time... if we're going to go through hell, we'll do it together...[/red]"
He feigned a grin, and Caedmon sighed standing, and moving through the shuttle. There was a great deal to do... and not much time to do it...
