(Missed Bret and Justin's first posts, so just deal with it. heh.)
maltez_buffton: The bar was designed for brawling, and even the name indicated it. 'Beatdown Town' had become a popular stopover for travellers who were looking for a little fun during their stay, and the bar of battle would entertain. With the actual drink bar against the far wall from the door, and booths lining the walls, the center of the room remained empty, save six tables with four chairs to each, and a large hologram image of a chronometer above the direct center. The current showing on the clock was 6:47 minutes remaining until the next battle would begin.
maltez_buffton: Maltez stood just inside the doorway of the establishment, and glanced around at the possible contestants tonight. He'd personally avoided the bar till tonight, not being eager to get into such a fight with some of the people he'd heard rumored to fight here..but Cinko had been adament, and thus here he was. A poster on a wall by the door announced tonight being the "Main Event" of the week, with the best of the best still breathing to compete, but the Buffton had pulled a little favor, and had him and his people added to the card.
killeer_for_hire: It wasn’t long before they had arrived at what seemed to be one of the more popular establishments of the Haven. Killeer’s eyes caught sight of the flickering numeric glyphs that were counting down to something. A something that was what made this particular pub popular. Dim lighting cast shadows about the entire rooms, as patrons mulled about; anxiously awaiting the timer to strike zero. Sucking in a quick breath of stale air, Killeer followed closely to Cinko, as her eyes strained to focus on the setting. Now would have been a good time to have that damned helmet, she thought while doing her best to tag the various patron’s with her memory.
killeer_for_hire: While she hadn’t planned on involving herself in any type of unnecessary conflict, this was quickly looking like an opportunity for her to release some of her pent up frustrations.
maltez_buffton: Maltez glanced over at his hunter companion and grinned slightly, even while he was removing his own chest plate, and walking to a large locker-type contraption against the left-hand wall. "No weapons..brought in. Anything that isn't nailed down in here is up for grabs, however." He keyed open one of the larger lockers, placing his chest piece in, and starting to remove his bracers. "And you can wear your armor and helmet..." He stopped, turning to Cinko again, a broad grin on his face. "If you think you'll need them." He turned away, placing the bracers in, and started to remove other pieces.
maltez_buffton: The rest of the bar was drinking away, most coming to watch the fight, though some looking eager to get started. Two Wookiees sat at the bar, chugging down an odd looking substance, growling to each other, looking a wee bloodthirsty. A group of humans were already seated in the center table, whispering to each other, possibly discussing strategies. Maltez called over his shoulder. "If you want a drink, I'd get it now.." 5:09.
devynthanon: --"That first punch will be a stiff enough drink for me," Cinko said, the crackle of the comlink fading into a raspy, human voice as his helmet was unsnapped and lifted from his shoulders, revealing a neatly, close-cropped head of gray hair, and a chiselled, stubble-laden, scarred face with a hard, dark gaze as its centerpiece.. He took a deep breath, inhaling the unfiltered air before, his exhalation sounding quite satisfied... This was his kind of place... He removed his Repeaters and emptied his belt compartments of various explosives, rolling his neck with a few resounding cracks, hunching his shoulders, beginning to loosen up... He would remove the armor entirely, if it weren't such a pain in the ass to put back on in desperate situations...
devynthanon: After all, with a couple of intoxicated wookiees at the bar, anything was possible.--
kecan_deta: No armor? That had the potential of being a big problem. Kurick was a tall, lean human with no type of stimulants pumped into him or implants in his head and there'd be no doubt that one of the aliens in here could out-power him. Unless it was a Rodian. He loved fucking with them. They were easy to kill. Eventually, though, after Cinko removed his helmet, Kurick did the same. A snap, then a hiss signifying the release of any pressure and the helmet slid slowly off of his head. What would you know? A dark-complexioned kid with short-cropped hair and the hint of a goatee forming on his chin. His eyes were a dark, dark brown. In low lighting, one wouldn't be able to tell what color his eyes were. But who gives a fuck? There was about to be a -brawl-. No need to stare at someone's eyes.
killeer_for_hire: As Maltez and Cinko removed their articles, all Killeer through into the mix was her blaster. Tugging it from the holster that hung low from her hip, the Corellian tossed it into one of the lockers while she mentally prepared herself for what was at hand. It had been a long time since Killeer had gotten into a scrap for the fun of it, and she only hoped she’d still find it fun. About ready to turn away from the compartment, the woman almost had forgotten about the various blades she had stored about in sleek compartments on her body. Between the metal plates of armor, they were concealed, yet easily accessible for her.
killeer_for_hire: “No outside weapons…” murmuring to herself, Killeer only removed the larger knives she had stored about herself; as well as the gauntlets which held a good deal of her throwing blades. She’d just leave the others alone, it was too much of a hassle. Turning to face the others, Killeer was surprised to see Kurick unmasked. Nodding in acknowledgement to the boy, she then clapped her hands together while eyeing the timer.
maltez_buffton: Maltez finished his armor-removing, and walked over to the bar himself, needing a drink before he got into this. He was old, damn it. This wasn't the sort of place he should be, but here he was, with his old friend, his old friend's friends, and with various other races of who knows what. He signaled the bartender, and got a drink, slamming it back, and shuttering from it. 4:38.
maltez_buffton: Back in the doorway, two rodians shuffle in from either side of Kurick, and a moment later, a large beast of a being, a Coynite, attempted to push the young man out of his way as he attempted to enter. The Coynite was 10 feet tall, taller than even the two wookiees sitting at the bar..he was covered in a mix of a gold and red mane, and was wearing a type of battle armor, though it didn't cover his entire body. In the far right-hand corner, a toydarian and a Twi'lek sat around a holonet terminal, shifting credits around, probably placing bets. Holonet monitors line the walls from various angles, and though it was dark enough to hide the facial features of those participating, it was still to be seen through a few channels around the Galaxy.
devynthanon: --Cinko nodded to Maltez, taking a seat at his right, intending that their little 'party' would follow... A thin brow shot up as the Coynite strode in, swearing he felt the ground shake a little with everyone of it's lengthy strides... Wonderful. A couple of wookiees, and that thing.. Hell, with their brute strength, every punch would probably feel like getting wailed on by a sledgehammer, or worse... Just the thought of that kind of pain brought a smile to Cinko's face, fading as he glanced to Killeer... Damn. He didn't want her to have to contend with that kind of monster.. "You sure you wanna do this?" the Mandalorian asked as his plated arms folded on the bartop, expecting her to be quite adamant in her refusal to wait outside....--
kecan_deta: Kurick was nearly thrown far to the right when the Coynite stomped into the bar like a badass. He had every right to. If the human bounty hunter was ten feet tall and thick with muscles, he'd probably run in and throw little bitches around to. Unfortunately, he wasn't, but he had the temper and cockiness of a giant. As soon as he gained his bearings, it was as though Kurick completely forgot about the creature's size. He didn't go -berserk-, but he definitely wasn't calm. His gloved hand reached for anything... and the first thing he found was a large plasteel cup filled with wine. And without thinking - he lauched it, straight towards the back of the enormous Coynite beast.
killeer_for_hire: Watching a pair of Wookies snarl at each other from the bar, Killeer began to feel a bit nervous. She had dealt in her share of exhibition battles before, and with creatures far larger than a Wookie, more vicious then a quartet of rabid Wookies; yet, many of those preparing to fight were more intelligent then Rancor, at least that could be assumed in most cases. Not to mention she was overwhelmed by the sheer number of physically strong species that loomed about, the newly arrived Coynite being the one to send a pwangg of fear into Killeer’s being. She was, after all, a woman. Strong for a woman, she was no match for what surrounded her, and going at this unarmed put her at a great disadvantage.
killeer_for_hire: View fixated on the Coynite, Killeer had barely heard Cinko over the beating of her own heart. “I’ll be fine.” Her tone was flat, but the woman was working hard not to show her fear. She knew the odds were bad, and though she pressured herself to stand tall and show Cinko she wasn’t some weakling, knowing she’d surely be pulverized had her eyeing the exit.
maltez_buffton: The Coynite felt the wine splash against his back, and stopped his trek towards the bar, turning, and looking at Kurick. Silence filled the bar. 3:33. The coynite chuckled darkly, sounding more beast than man. He pointed a claw-tipped finger in Kurick's direction, speaking in a broken form of Basic. "Time runs out, You and Me." He turned from the boy, and made it to the bar, on the other end away from everyone else. Everyone's eyes remained on the large being, and one human even turned and ran from the building. Maltez eyed the creature, and ordered another drink, even while the Coyn native took a bottle, and began to gulp it down. 2:58.
maltez_buffton: A door behind the bar opened, and a tuxedo wearing human stepped out, walking to the table where the bets were being made, and had a quiet conversation with the Twi'Lek, pointing at the Coynite.
devynthanon: --"You don't have to prove anything to me... Hell, I didn't realize this was going to be wookiee fest... Get out of here while you ca--" he stopped short, the sound of broken glass resounding as Kurick's glass collided with the Coynite. Wonderful... And though Kurick didn't die instantaneously, the Coynite's boast would lead him to believe that the young hunter's death would be soon to follow the expiration of the chronometer... Cinko's stomach would've turned, if he were capable of such weakness.. Instead, he grinned, again, before turning back to Killeer... "You should probably go, Killeer... else I'll get myself killed protecting you," he said with a bit of a chuckle, his gaze slipping to the clock again, the numbers dissipating as time dragged on...--
kecan_deta: "You got it, you over-grown piece of shit," he barked, although the Coynite was clearly ready to drink himself a way. It took seconds for Kurick to realize what he did. Both o' those dark brown eyes searched around the room at any of the other species. Smaller. Weaker. He had to pick the biggest-fucking-one? There was no way he was going to make it out alive. Quickness isn't going to help him in a bar. Hiding isn't going to do him any good. He was bound to get attacked by the Rodians, too, which wouldn't be a problem... if he wouldn't have had a giant out to kill him. And... still... this entire time he didn't think about Cinko as back up. Or Killeer. Or Maltez. How could he? The young bounty hunter was still trying to gain their trust.
killeer_for_hire: The sound of shattering glass followed by the seemingly booming steps of the Coynite finally caused Killeer to cringe. It seemed Kurick was already getting into trouble, his angry taunt magnified over the recent silence in the room. Cinko prodded her to leave, but Killeer’s pride was greater than her fear, at least until the timer hit zero. Dark eyes locked on Kurick, it was obvious the boy was in over his head. There wasn’t much she could do, without getting herself killed, then again… “I’ll be fine…” Stating flatly to Cinko once more, Killeer slipped back a bit, leaning on the bar. She would do her best to avoid being flattened, but to leave now would only cause her to view herself a coward. At the very least she could keep an eye on Kurick and try to help him.
maltez_buffton: 1:59. The conversations had started up again, and Maltez leaned over to Cinko, whispering "I believe your..apprentice might not make it through the night..or any of us, if that beast has his way. Should we take it first?" He posed the question, and left it hanging, even as he grabbed a fourth drink. It wasn't courage he drank for, but merely a slight added initiative. Two more humans enterted, both wearing martial artist uniforms, and a third followed them in..but moved to a far side seat, intent to just watch. 1:19. The man in the tuxedo finished his discussion, and walked to the center of the room, clearing his throat, and grabbing a mic.
maltez_buffton: "We're going to get started soon..so please, settle down." The crowd which had just started back up, quieted down again, getting ready. "All combatants please move to the center, all onlookers..stay out of the way." He chuckled, and continued. "There's only a couple 'rules', so let's get them out of the way. This is a no-holds brawl. You are removed from the fight through either submission, or unconciousness. Intentional killing is illegal, though accidents do happen. This isn't a team event, and only the last being standing is considered the winner. The winner receives..20,000 credits!" 0:57. "Bets are still being placed if you're interested."
devynthanon: --He leaned in towards Maltez, the cocky smirk as steadfast as ever.. "Do you even have to ask that question? Go for the knees... I don't care how big it is... Aint nothin' movin' without legs to carry it around." Cinko nodded and took another deep breath, closing his eyes for a moment... enjoying the calm before the coming storm... Eventually, he stood, paying little heed to the group that entered... For now, his concerns were the Coynite and the wookiees... The rest of these guys, he was quite sure he could hold his own with... Hell, he might've been able to take one of the wookiees, though, by their close proximity to one another at the end of the bar, he figured this whole thing wouldn't be a solo effort for them until they were the only two left...
killeer_for_hire: Noise resumed in the room as the gathering crowd swelled. Eyes drifting back to the timer, Killeer reached within herself to find a calm as her lid drifted closed. The darkness that shrouded her view helped to visualize her past victories. After all, this was really no different from the pit, just far more crowded. When the voice boomed over some type of sound system, Killeer’s brief moment of zen was shattered. Eyes firing open to see the time on the clock near it’s end, the woman began to head for the center of the floor. Shaking out her limbs a bit as she walked, Killeer planned to put up a decent fight despite the mounted odds.
killeer_for_hire: “Knowing I’ll be limping away in the best case scenario makes this a little easier. There’s no pressure.” Laughing some, her comment had been directed toward Cinko, though it was hard to tell whether she could be heard. Rolling her shoulder’s back, the woman allowed adrenaline to finally well inside herself, her mindset switching over to the more animalistic concept of survival.
maltez_buffton: 0:37. As everyone made their way to the center, it was clear where some lines drew. The Wookiees stuck together, Maltez and Cinko's group were together, the group of four humans were crowded away from everyone else, and the beast from Coyn stood in the direct center, which people all around. His eyes were locked on Kurick, and he couldn't wait for the battle to start. A few humans observing, went to the betting table, pointing at..either Killeer, or the Coynite. But it was difficult to tell which. 0:12. Almost time...The door behind the bar bursts open once more, and a mammoth of a human stalks out. Over 8 feet tall, with spiked blonde hair, the human looked far stronger than even a wookiee, and to regulars of the bar, he was known as the Champ. Three weeks running. 0:03.
maltez_buffton: He stalks to the center of the room just as the battle breaks loose, the betting table refusing to issue any more bets, much to the dismay of everyone around. It was a sham, a gimmick, and the owner counted on the big man to win it all. As the time ran out, a bell tolled, starting the contest. Maltez nodded to Cinko, and slowly stalked on the other reach of the fighting area, looking for an opening on the Coyn. The beast kicked up a table infront of him, sending it flying in Kurick's direction, hoping to clock the kid in the head. The Wookiees charged the newcomer, but the Champ avoided their initial attacks, back-handing one away from him, and grabbing the other by the neck.
kecan_deta: Kurick was on his toes. He eyed the Coynite down until the table was in the air and flying to his face. Did he duck? No. The table was large. He'd still get fucked up. There was no doubt about it. The young Kurick ran as fast as he could to the right - his feet kicking, muscles aching, heart racing. Eventually, his heart stopped. He was in the battle area. So were the Rodians. In fact, while he tried to keep eye contact on the Coynite, he lost track of everything else. Kurick stupidly collided with one of the Rodians - it was enough to slow him down to a stop. It was a hard enough impact to send the Rodian forward. It was a long enough stall for someone to completely fuck up Kurick if they wanted to.
devynthanon: --Well... he thought, his eyes watching the seconds burn away, This is it. And, somehow, the grin remained, his pure delight outweighing the minimal amounts of fear that wanted to spring forth by leaps and bounds, slow steps carrying him in a half-circle to the other side of the Coynite, remaining as furtive as possible... Given the dullness of Cinko's dark armor, he was little more than a shadow in the dim-lighting, hopefully out of the beast's realm of perception... At least for now. He shot a glance to Maltez, a bit of light flashing in his eyes, the dual, ivory rows of his teeth vaguely visible in the heavy darkness of the low-lit room.. On the other hunter's signal, he would close on the right leg of the Coynite at a speed fast enough to (hopefully) avoid detection, given the--
devynthanon: --Rather chaotic situation at hand, using his momentum, strength, and all of his weight to hurl his body forward, straightening his right leg, the heel of his boot angled to catch the large creature's vulnerable hinge directly on the side, hopefully causing enough of a disruption to break the creature's thick bones... After all, Cinko was quite strong, and threw quite a bit of himself into his attack.. If not, it should at least knock the lengthy creature off balance.. when combined with Maltez' attack, things were surely to work out to their advantage.--
killeer_for_hire: It seemed the Wookie’s had been strategizing, unfortunately for them, the freshly arrived Champ knocked them away with ease. What a beast of a man, Killeer thought before the glistening metal shards of a table flew in her direction. Agile enough to dodge the projectiles, it was then that Killeer realized it was the Coynite who had flung the piece of furniture. “Fucking shitty tabl….” The poor quality of the décor had been quickly placed on a back burner as one of the Wookie’s decided to alter his battle plan. Stalking towards Killeer, it was apparent that he thought she’d be easy pickings. “Woah buddy, don’t go looking at me like I’m some tasty treat…” As soon as her statement had ended, Killeer was watching one of the Wookie’s gangly arms send a heavy fist in the direction of her head.
killeer_for_hire: Gasping as she sidestepped out of the way, Killeer soon took a heavy hit to her gut. The force of the uppercut had sent the woman off the ground some, but it quickly came back at her when she fell. Coughing some as a searing pain burned for a moment through her belly, the hunter reminded herself it could be worse. As she rose up from her knees…the Wookie let her know it would. Feeling a large hand grab at her neck, Killeer was lifted off the ground once again, her hands clawing at the furry paw that grasped her. With so much chaos going on about her, Killeer took comfort in knowing someone else was probably being choked to death. She hadn’t given up yet though. As the toothy jaw of the Wookie released a low growl, Killeer realized something.
killeer_for_hire: No matter how big you are…this always hurts. Kicking the toe of her boot into the creatures abdomen, Killeer buried the spikes that adorned her boots into the furry belly. The creatures natural reaction was to tighten it’s grip, but as Killeer’s lungs began to burn, she was able to lash out with one of her hands. Gloved fingertips grazed across the eyes of the Wookie, and the uncomfortable burning sensation caused it to release its harsh grip on the woman as it pawed it’s eyes for relief. Finding herself rising from the floor once again, Killeer rubbed her throat in discomfort as she gasped for more air.
maltez_buffton: The rodian Kurick didn't collide with jumped away, startled at being introduced to the battle so soon. The other rodian, however, tumbled to the ground, sliding against a wooden chair. He stood again, grabbing the chair, and beaconing Kurick with it, challenging him to a one-on-one..or was it two? The first rodian circled around, trying to move behind his human foe, and would attempt a dive at Kurick's legs even as the second rodian would step forward, swinging the chair at the human's head. Kurick attempted to dodge, but didn't see the rodian behind him, who tackled the boy, sending his body falling forward. The chair connected hard with the kid's head, knocking him out cold before he ever hit the ground. As the rodians moved away from the boy, a few attendants pulled him free from the battle.
maltez_buffton: The Fighting-with-Killeer Wookiee cleared his vision, and glared hard at the woman. Never had it encountered a woman who could fight back like she did. He had more important things to take care of..like assisting his fellow, but at the moment he just wanted to take Killeer out. Stepping forward with his left leg, he sends his right sweeping out, a roundhouse kick aimed at the woman's chin. He was spinning with the kick, and even if he missed the attack, he'd spin off of his planted foot, preparing a second attack depending on her block/dodge/counter-attack.
maltez_buffton: Maltez snuck up on the Coyn, while the still being choked second wookiee and the Champ, hid his movements from the beast until it was too late. The Buffton gave his former partner the signal, and charged the beast, leaping at him, grabbing him by his still kicking leg, and pushing upwards and back, hoping Cinko's aid would take the big boy down. Cinko's unnoticed kick hit a direct blow to the Coynite, cracking a bone, and throwing him off-balance. He didn't have time to react, however, the Buffton's attack sending him toppling backward, with only a now-breaking leg to hold him steady. The beast slams back on his back, and his right leg breaks completely.
maltez_buffton: The bar was designed for brawling, and even the name indicated it.
