Sol calls Eve, Ava offers support.
Sol:
Upstairs the children were asleep, having been tucked in for the night. Time had been set aside, arranged with Ava after the conference had dismissed for the day. One day after he had told Ava he'd call Eve, and had also agreed to have Ava along when he went to see her, Solomon had Ava once more in his living room. They were not alone. Next to Solomon with her hand laid lightly on his leg, Trinity was there to offer her support (just don't expect her to say anything. Just seems like the kind of thing she'd be present for). In his left hand, Sol weighed his comm heavily before fumbling to make the call. The house smelt fragrant, carrying the sent of whatever was being made for their evening meal. The mixture of spices, vegetables, and meat was of the type that seemed to warm the air just by the smell of it all.
Azalees:
Ava Azalee sat quiet and still in the chair across the couple. It wasn't lost to her how difficult this was for Solomon. She could only imagine how much arm twisting it took Trinity to convince him to have the Hapans look at it in the first place.
Her clothes were the same from conference earlier. Muted colors of a tan and cream colored pantsuit, the jacket falling past her hips to cover the lightsaber clipped to her belt. Her hair was, again, pulled back into a very formal bun with most strands kept in place.
For Solomon; two rings went into the call before the sound of Evelyn Azalees voice answered.
"Hello?"
Sol:
"Eve? Its Sol," he took a second to turn the device slightly in his hand, getting himself a more comfortable grip, "Are you busy?"
Azalees:
"Hi, Sol." She greeted. "No, what's up?"
Sol:
He took a breath and let it out while Trin gave his leg a gentle squeeze. Ava would feel his apprehension through The Force, but would physically be able to see that he was not letting it get the better of him. There was effort being put into remaining calm and open, "I was wondering if you'd be able to see me. I need your help."
Azalees:
There was a pause on Eves end of the call. The sound of rustling and moving before just silence and her voice. "Of course. How soon do you need to be seen?" Ava stayed quiet. She could feel his apprehension and was there both in person and within the Force as a silent helping hand if he wished to reach out.
Sol:
From where he sat, Sol glanced toward Ava, "As soon as the conferences here on Hapes are over, we can come to you. Sooner than that, if you can make it to Hapes. Whatever works best for you."
Azalees:
"Um." There, Eve let the uncertainty fill that one noise. From where she at, Ava leaned in - attentive to what her sister might say. Silence filled the call before. "I can be there."
Sol:
That silence had him crossing mental fingers. He wouldn't have minded a trip away, not on one of his ships. There was something about the idea of being locked in a ship that belonged to someone else, including Ava, that made the prospect seem less than ideal. It was a bit of a relief when Eve gave her answer, causing Solomon to smile slightly as he said, "Alright. Call me when you reach Hapes, and we'll come meet you. I should have Ava with me if she isn't occupied at the palace."
Azalees:
"Can you tell me a bit about what's going on?" Eve asked. "So that I know what to prepare."
Sol:
Trinity's hand moved from Solomon's leg to rest against his back. "I'm suffering severe muscle strain in my right arm. My doctor here on Hapes has me in a motion inhibitor up to my shoulder."
Azalees:
"How long have you had the injury and how long has your treatment been?"
Sol:
"This injury is secondary. I've only had it for about a day. The primary injury was a loss of strength in my right arm, that I had been suffering for quite few months before seeking treatment. I can't say how long exactly." There was a slight lean to the way he was sitting, he right arm supported by the arm of the conformcouch, tilting him toward where Trinity sat. His hand around the comm had tightened as he spoke with Solomon finding the need to reach for The Force to find some inward stability.
Azalees:
"Can you tell me a bit about what happened that caused the initial injury?"
Sol:
Where to start to answer that one? There were so many ways Sol could have responded to that, ways that would have zeroed in on this or that but wouldnt have really covered the full weight of what needed to be said to give Eve what she needed. In his conversation with Ava and Sadhric he had picked one and gone with it, sliding past the depths of the 'why' and hedging toward the safer bet. "The war -- everything that happened. The doctor I've been seeing here said it was all related to stress and exhaustion."
Azalees:
"Okay." Eve replied. "You said the Hapans have you on an inhibitor? How long have you been on that and have they done anything else for treatment? Have they used bacta?" There, Eve paused as her tone became softer.
"I'm sorry for the flood of questions but the more I know, the better I'll be able to narrow in on which treatment option will be better."
Meanwhile, Ava stayed quiet. She felt Solomon's reach and offered back stability to help quiet his anxiety.
Sol:
"Its alright, I understand," He told her, very well aware of the discomfort answering questions like those could bring. He had The Force, though, and he had Ava there helping him to find that comfort he was looking for, and beside him was Trinity who was offering very much the same as the Jedi that sat across from him and the mother of his child. He was finding that stability and that comfort did much to relieve the discomfort, making it easier for him to speak, "I've been on the inhibitor for about a day now, they also have me using bacta with it to help reduce inflimation and to help with the pain."
Azalees:
"It's to tell since you've only had the treatment for a day. But how have you been feeling with the inhibitor and the bacta?"
Sol:
"Like I can't move my arm," the dry response was followed with, "Its pretty numb, so I guess the treatment is working. The swelling seems to have gone down some, but that's hard to judge right now."
Azalees:
"Yeah. If it's only been a day since the start of treatment..." she agreed while trailing off. "Is it okay for me to contact your treating physician for their records? You'll have to contact them to grant me clearance."
Sol:
Some hesitation came in answer to that question. The calming comfort of The Force leaned into a bit more, "Yes," with that came the name of the medical ward and the doctor he had been seeing, "I can call them as soon as I am off the comm with you."
Azalees:
"Okay. I'll reach out to them before I leave." There, a pause. "Beyond feeling numb, is there anything else? Any popping or pain if you move certain ways?" Ava felt Solomon and reached back to him. It wasn't as harmonious like the meld but there was solidarity and comfort.
Sol:
"No, just a weakness in joints and muscle."
Azalees:
"Okay. That's good. If it changes before I get there, though, let me know."
Sol:
"I will. Thank you, Eve."
Azalees:
"It's not a problem Sol. You and Trinity have been there for me countless of times. It's the least I can do. I should be arriving tomorrow evening."
Sol:
"See you then."
Azalees:
"Take care." And then she was gone. With the conversation ending with Eve, her sister spoke. "You okay?"
Sol:
His comm was tossed onto the low sitting table between him and Ava, the device rolling and clattering against the duraglass top. With his left hand free, Trinity was reaching for it. "Yeah," Sol let the woman beside him take his hand, " I only thought of it while she was speaking, but I lied to you and...." Solomon paused, letting the second name he wanted to say die before reaching his lips. He squeezed Trinity's hand, "I am sorry for that, Ava."
Azalees:
"Lied about what?" She blinked.
Sol:
"I told you I hadn't seen her since Coruscant. Hearing her voice, though, reminded me that I did see her after Coruscant. I saw her here, on Hapes, during the pirate occupation when she and Niko were with the people's resistence. Just before Kara --" he shook his head, "Just after we were tortured. Just after Angel happened. I asked for her help, for the assistance from the people, finding Angel to give me a chance in dispatching her before the seed she carried could become a life. Your sister refused me."
Azalees:
"I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry you had to go through it alone." Ava said softly.
"I think," she spoke after a second. "Its hard for me to remember everything that you've went through. Both of you." Her eyes flickered to Trinity. "You both have experienced horrible, terrible things."
Sol:
"It doesn't matter," Solomon shook his head, the hand that held Trinity's was folded into a tight grip, "I needed you to know that I hadn't meant to lie to you."
Azalees:
"It matters to me." She replied. "And you don't have to apologize. There was a lot going on then; especially for you. It makes sense that some things might get mixed up or forgotten."
Sol:
"Peace has been made with what happened. If I had gotten my help, who is to say that things would have ended the same? I have a daughter. I wouldn't have her if I had gotten my chance at Angel while she was pregnant. The outcome matters."
Azalees:
"How is your daughter?"
Sol:
"She's doing alright," Solomon released Trinity's hand, letting it go slowly, "There seems to be no effects from what she went through aside from accelerated growth and development, and the occasional nightmare. She's getting big." He said that last with a smile.
Ava:
There, at that last part, Ava smiled. It was a small smile but the kind that lit the eyes. "I'm glad to hear she's doing well." The smile faded but the warmth in her eyes stayed. "What you two have done... after everything you've both been through... is incredible. You took something that would have destroyed most, that they would have shunned from, and not only did you over come it... but you made peace with it."
"You made a -life- beyond the tragedies instead of letting them swallow you whole."
Sol:
He almost laughed at Ava's last statement, shaking his head instead, "If you only knew, Ava. We're taking this one day at a time because some are worse than others."
Ava:
As was expected…
… and her head nodded with agreement. “Sometimes it’s about the little steps.” And from where she was sitting, after watching the couple’s hands fold into one another in silent support and comfort, it looked like those little steps were heading them in the right direction.
“It’s starting to get late.” She breathed the words. “I’m not Eve but… is there anything I can do to help with your shoulder before I leave?”
Sol:
"I don't think so, but thank you for the offer." With his left hand resting against the edge of the couch Sol pushed himself up. Not too long ago he had kicked Ava out of that room, and his house. Today, he gave a gentle motion toward the door once standing, "Let me see you out."
Ava:
“It was good to see you again, Trinity.” She said her goodbyes as she ascended from the chair. “Take care.” As she headed towards the door with him, Ava stopped to look at Solomon. “I’ll see you when Eve arrives but… if you need anything before that, let me know?”
Sol:
"I will," Sol said with a nod before he leaned toward the panel by the door and hit the key that would open it, "Thank you."
