With young hopeful eyes she looked up at her father and smiled. From across the yard she heard them calling, begging in loud jovial voices for her to go join their game. She patiently waited, her father giving a long slow nod and waving her off after a moment. His smile had matched her own, giving his stoney colored gaze a hint of mischief.
The girl turned, bounding off to meet with her siblings. They had been playing all morning while she had voluntarily taken to lessons. Joseph watched from where he stood, crossing his arms over his chest. They were all growing up so fast. Each held their own promise within the Force. They were getting older, Murra had reached thirteen, Malik was going on ten, Constance was five and Keton was learning how to walk.
The troubled times in their lives had passed. A deep contented sigh fell from Joseph Tekal's lips. He was glad to be alive, happy to be watching his eldest children at play. Life was good, and the galaxy was right. Everything was going grand for his family. Even the vinyard was prospering.
A long slender pair of arms wrapped around him from behind, and he heard the soft voice of Nicole. "Keton's down for a nap." There was a smile on her words, her attention going out to the field where the other children were playing. "You are doing a fine job of teaching them, Joseph. They will all become great Jedi some day." She loosened her arms, feeling the intention to turn coming from his torso .
He slowly spun to face her, letting his arms drop away from his chest. He wrapped her in a warm embrace and kissed her forehead softly. This was all that he could have ever hoped for, this was more then he had ever wanted.
Nothing at all could destroy the foundation that they had built for themselves. He had already proven that by destroying the Dark Jedi who had tried, not too long ago, to do just that.
"I love you Nicole." "I love you too, Joseph."
